Simple Video Teleprompter collects nothing and keeps nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no server of mine for the app to talk to. Nothing you write or record is uploaded, and there is nothing to sync between devices.
On your device
Scripts are saved in the app’s own storage. Recordings are written to a temporary file while you record and are copied to your photo library only when you tap Keep - tapping Retake deletes the file immediately, and any leftover temporary recording is deleted the next time the app launches.
Deleting the app takes your scripts and any temporary files with it. Takes you have already saved stay in your photo library, because they are yours.
Permissions
Asked for when you first open the prompter, not on launch. Declining any one of them leaves the rest of the app working.
- Camera - the live preview you read over, and the video itself.
- Microphone - the audio recorded with it.
- Photos (add only) - saving the takes you keep. The app can add to your library; it cannot read it.
Camera and microphone data go to the recording in front of you and nowhere else.
Apple
Downloading from the App Store is between you and Apple, covered by Apple’s privacy policy. Through App Store Connect I see only aggregated sales and crash statistics, which cannot identify you.
Children
The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes are noted in the app’s release notes.
